— About · Index 02
A hatchery, engineered.
Avora was built to do one thing: deliver a chick that lives, lays, and pays. Everything on these grounds — the breeders, the hatchers, the trucks — is tuned to that.

Why Avora exists.
Hatchery card
WORCESTER MASSAvora started in 2008 as a single closed flock of Rhode Island Reds — a forty-eight-bird breeding pen run out of a converted dairy barn in Worcester County, Massachusetts. The first order was four chicks, mailed two towns over. The second was twelve. The third was ninety-six, and we never went back.
Sixteen years on, the philosophy hasn’t moved. Every breed in the catalogue traces back to a sealed breeder pen we maintain ourselves. We do not buy fertile eggs from contract producers. We do not sub-source. The genetics are ours; the temperament data is ours; the blame, when something goes sideways, is ours too.
We built Avora because most hatcheries treat a day-old chick as inventory. We treat it as the opening line of a fifteen-year relationship between you, your flock, and your kitchen table.
— Principles
Three rules we don’t bend.
-
01 / 03
Closed flock, always.
No contracted eggs. No sub-sourcing. Every breeder pen is ours, traceable to a banded foundation hen.
-
02 / 03
Climate-staged incubation.
Setters and hatchers run at separate humidity and temperature curves. We do not co-mingle hatch stages.
-
03 / 03
Live arrival, written.
If a chick does not arrive alive, we replace or refund. The guarantee is in writing on every order.
